After 70 years we are closing.
Dear Parents of CHCP,
We wanted to inform you that we have made the difficult decision to close CHCP at the end of this school year. We understand that this news may come as a disappointment, but we want to assure you that we are committed to making this transition as smooth and positive as possible.
Our Coop has been a fixture of the Capitol Hill neighborhood for 70 years, providing a nurturing environment for young ones to learn, grow, and play. We are grateful for the community of parents who have entrusted their children to us, and for the board of directors and Parent Educator Jane who have worked tirelessly to keep our little coop afloat.
We are especially grateful for Teacher Elizabeth, who has been an integral part of our community for nine years. With her calm demeanor, deep understanding of children, and unwavering commitment to our little ones, she has made a lasting impact on our families. We know that her departure, along with the closure of CHCP, will be a significant loss to our community.
Although we are sad to say goodbye, low enrollment numbers have made it challenging for CHCP to continue operating. We are not alone in this struggle, as several other coops in the greater Seattle area are unfortunately closing for similar reasons.
Thank you for being a part of our CHCP community. While our time together may be ending, we will always cherish the memories and moments we've shared together. If you have any questions, concerns or comments please feel free to reach out to myself or any of the others on the board. We will be working over the next couple months on closing the school and distributing the assets, stay tuned for future developments.
With tears and gratitude,
Shannon King (On behalf of the Board of Directors)
